Long-time Tehachapi residents, concertmaster Elizabeth Fewtrell and associate concertmaster Wendy Clare, will grace the stage as soloists in Johann Sebastian Bach’s Double Violin Concerto. Elizabeth Fewtrell is a professional violinist and professor teaching music appreciation, music history, and African American music at Antelope Valley College. Wendy Clare is a professional violinist, concert master of the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra, active musician in her local church, and private music instructor in the community.

December 5th, 2025

The Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus, the Tehachapi High School Choir, and the students from the Antelope Valley Master Chorale will join forces in singing the famous work of western civilization, Handel’s Messiah.

The Tehachapi Symphonic Chorus, under the direction of Sandy Adams, is a community choir composed of volunteers of all ages. The choir is joined by students from Antelope Valley College Master Chorale. The combined choirs will perform Christmas repoitoire with Handel’s Messiah as the featured piece. Soloists are selected from each choir to perform the oratorio.

The Tehachapi High School Choir will be featured in this concert performing Christmas selections under the direction of Molly Bolewski. They will join the combined choirs in singing Handel’s Hallalujah Chorus.

March 8th, 2026

Yung-mee Rhee, pianist and teacher, will be the featured soloist in our March concert. She has served as an adjudicator of the annual Southwestern Youth Music Festival and Music Teachers National Association Bartok Competition. She was Artistic Director of Image International Music Festival in 2011 and has served as a faculty member of the Korean Institute of Piano Pedagogy since 2010. A scholarship recipient of Indiana University’s acclaimed music school, she studied under the direction of renowned pianist Menahem Pressler, founder of the Beaux Arts Trio, Michael Block, and Francois Regnat. Ms. Rhee received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Indiana University and Master of Music in piano performance from California State University at Northridge.

MTAC piano students from Bakersfield will be invited to a do pre-concert recital.

May 15,2026

The winners of the Tehachapi Symphony Young Artist Competition and the Cal State Bakersfield International Festival will be featured artists in our May concert. These young artists will perform a concerto movement accompanied by the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra.

This concert will also host an art gallery exhibit featuring pieces created by Tehachapi high school and local college art students. The students will display their original artworks created around the orchestra’s finale, Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky/Maurice Ravel. This piece was inspired by paintings and drawings by Victor Hartmann. Local art students will honor this artist by creating their own representations of the music.

June 26,2026

The orchestra will play light classics, patriotic tunes, popular tunes, and music by American composers. The finale will encourage audience participation with a sing a long. The concert will feature local musical artists.
